What is a C.L.U.E. report?
C.L.U.E. stands for Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange, a database that lets auto and homeowners insurance companies share information about past claims. C.L.U.E. is a registered trademark of LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), you're entitled to one free C.L.U.E. Auto and one free C.L.U.E. Personal Property report every 12 months.
How do I get a copy of mine?
You can request your report from LexisNexis by phone at 1-866-312-8076 or through the LexisNexis consumer portal, which also explains how to order a copy by mail. LexisNexis is the only company that discloses this report.
How the exchange works
- Insurance companies send information about property and auto claims into a central database each month.
- The database is kept by an information company, not an insurance company.
- When you apply with a new insurance company, it can see your past claims in the database.
- Reports can also show inquiries you made, even if a claim was never filed or paid.
A C.L.U.E. report covers losses reported in the past seven years. It shows the date of loss, the type of loss and the amount paid, along with your insurance company name, policy number and claim number.
