Personal umbrella insurance adds an extra layer of liability coverage above your home and auto policies. Coverage is sold in $1,000,000 increments.
The umbrella begins where your existing coverage ends, up to the limit you choose. It can also cover situations other policies may not, such as slander or libel.
What a personal umbrella covers
- Operating most motor vehicles, including cars, RVs, motorcycles, pickup trucks and most watercraft
- Incidents involving any property covered by your homeowners policy
- Claims of slander, libel, defamation of character, invasion of privacy and false arrest
- Business liability, when it's covered by your homeowners policy
